This beer flew out the last time we brewed it, Rob designed this recipe with Cascade & Hallertau Blanc hops then I suggested we add some Mosaic. It’s made for a lovely easy drinking Session Pale.
Everyday Carry Pumpclip
If you require bag in boxes please shout now so we can fill next week when this beer is ready. 10 & 20 Litre available to be filled.
At the end of August is our 10th Anniversary in business, it’s certainly not been an easy ride but we’re still here! Food will be from Jimmy aka ‘Fries the limit’ with his excellent Caribbean food, we’ll have the usual 6x Handpulled beers and we’ll add on the 6-Tap mobile bar so there’s even more beers to choose from making 8x keg beers. We’ll be brewing a new beer for our Decade too which will be the planned evolution of our ‘Maga made me do it’ into a Gluten Free pale, tweaking lightly to 4% cos it tasted pretty damn good. And expect the first proper pours of our new Ginger beer.
Today we are packaging our new Ginger Beer, we have used frozen diced ginger root in this 800 Litre brew to the tune of 60kg though annoyingly we lost some juice from the packs while defrosting in the coldstore. So 44kg was added to the copper along with some Lemon Zest and Celeia and Bobek hops.
FV being filled ready for kegging.
I need to crack on and get the Keg clip branding done and settle on what we’re going to call it, options so far are; Ginger Fringe, Thundaburg, You only Zing once/twice, Van Gogh, Grint, Weasley, Jasper, Red Head, Eric the Red or Stuart!
Our Gaggle Lager 4.6% is getting put in 30 litre Keykegs today, the recipe consists of Extra Pale Malt, Vienna. Herman Carahell and a hint of Acidulated malt, hopping from Lubelski and Bobek, fermented with Lallemand Saflager S-23.
Gaggle Lager
Originally brewed for The Fox & Goose in Hebden bridge, its natural habitat, but available to anyone that can serve Keykegs. This has a fruitier character with some herbal hints, with a lovely amber tint to the colour.
Order in all the usual ways, or just grab a pint in the Fox & Goose, cheers
Thanks to everyone that drank our beer at the Beat Herder Festival, it’s a massive commitment for our little business, so it’s great that so much of our beer was enjoyed at the festival.
Massive thanks to all the Beat Herder Team for having us again this year, hope to be doing the same if they’ll have us back again.
You lot got through 91 kegs!!
Also massive thanks to my old mate Karl for putting in one hell of a slog keeping the bars running, it’s massively appreciated.
Our Beat Herder beer 3.9% is available in Cask now, order in all the usual ways.
Our lovely roasty toasty Blacksmith Porter with its hint of German beechwood smoke is heading into cask and Keykeg today, lots of Pins being filled cos everyone needs a Dark beer, even in summer. this tastes epic on Keg, and gets even better with a bit of age 😉
Blacksmith Porter
The recipe goes a bit like this… Maris Otter, Brown Malt, Wheat Malt, Rauch Malt, Pale Chocolate Malt and Black Malt with just a simple hit of American Bravo hops for balancing bitterness. Unfined and Vegan.
SPBW aka the Society for the Preservation of Beer in the Wood (York Branch) have been talking to brewers ahead of Yorkshire Day 1st August. For our part we are teaming up with or friends at The Boathouse in Skipton for a mini Tap TakeOver.
Beers will be served from The Wood
Velvet Gloss Stout 5% Smooth drinking and roasty. Unfined and Vegan
Beat Herder 3.9% Sesh IPA brewed with and for the team at Beat Herder Festival, hopped with Mosaic. Hallertau Blanc and Cascade. Unfined, Hazy and Vegan
Chinook Blonde 3.4% single hopped with American Chinook, very refreshing for that Canal-side sunshine. Fined and Clear.
Indigo Warbler 3.7% Session Bitter with a Maris Otter malt base and hopped with British Challenger hops. Fined and Clear.
Other pubs in Skipton are also serving some beers from the wood, so be sure to check out The Beer Engine, The Yorkshireman, The Speakeasy, Hustle and Swadford Tap who will also have beer in the wood.
Sounds like a pretty sweet day for some seriously traditional cask beer serving/drinking. Cheers
One of our wooden Casks
Our wooden Casks were made by Euan Findlay up at the Theakstons Brewery, a top lad that really knows his craft. The wood used comes from American Bourbon barrels which are repurposed and reshaped to make Pub-size casks, just like Theakstons sell their Old Perculier in, with new Oak wood ends.
The thing with wood is you have to treat it with lots of TLC, no chemicals are used to clean only hot water and sometimes a hot salt soak, the beer can age and takes on a little of the character of the wood though mostly you’ll recognise the beers just like you would like any others served from a regular metal or plastic beer cask.
Tradition meets the Modern
Set the Date, Friday 1st August 2025
*If anyone else in our delivery areas fancies a 4x Cask Wood TTO please email info@wishbonebrewery.co.uk you would have to keep our casks safe so they don’t get stolen and adhere to our care sheet.
Today we are brewing our homage to the excellent Coniston Bluebird, our 3.7% Indigo Warbler is hopped with British Challenger hops on a malty base of traditional Maris Otter malt.
Indigo Warbler Bitter
This lovely balanced bitter is simple and very satisfying.
If you want 10 or 20L boxes of this beer please shout now via email and we’ll fill them next week when the beer is ready.
